Hoërskool Die Wilgers boasts with new principal

Ilza Louw can't wait to take on 2021 and reach new heights at the already impressive east high school.

Popular high school in the east Hoërskool Die Wilgers is excited to announce they have appointed Ilza Louw as their new principal to lead the school into an exciting new era.

“The governing body welcomes Ilze to the Wilgie family with open arms. We trust that her experience and passion for education will contribute greatly to our team. We really appreciate the leadership that she brings to the school,” says Lizette Labuschagne, chairman of the school governing body.

Louw completed het schooling at Hoërskool Monument in Krugersdorp. She studied at the University of Johannesburg after which she started her journey in teaching as an Afrikaans teacher.

She later switched to maths and became head of the maths department at Hoërskool Driehoek.

In 2014, she decided to take on the big city and joined Hoërskool Zwartkop in Centurion. In 2017 she was appointed to deputy principal at Hoërskool Hercules.

“It was an honour to make a difference in the lives of children and parents during my time at Hoërskool Hercules,” Louw said.

“I am very grateful to our Lord in heaven that Hoërskool Die Wilgers, the parents, personnel at the school and learners at the school have entrusted me with this huge responsibility.

“Together with the help of education authorities, a dynamic school governing body and an unbelievable personnel force, we’ll be able to take this already amazing school to new heights. We can’t, however, stress enough how important sport, the arts and culture and social events are to the school.”

Louw believes in the complete involvement of each learner in school culture and activities.

When asked what her dreams and goals are for the coming school year, she said: “Just keep an eye on Hoërskool Die Wilgers in future.”

“I have a responsibility towards our immediate Wilgie community. I’m excited to engage the children in the unique narrative city children have. After the ducks and geese on the grounds welcomed me to the school, I knew there was something special about this place. I pray that we are blessed beyond measure at the school,” Louw concludes.
