Local organisation donates sanitary pads
‘It was important for communities to get involved with their local schools and help with either time or sourcing donations’
Hundreds of sanitary pads, dozens of school shirts, a few pairs of school shoes and several boxes of different stationery were donated to Pheladi-Nakene primary school.
The generous donation was made by Botho Bjo Bonolo, a non-profit organisation, with the help of PR councillor Malcolm de Klerk in Ward 6.
De Klerk said giving back to the community is always important to readdress past issues and to further opportunities to create a better resourced community.
He said he was approached by Botho Bjo Bonolo to find a deserving school in Mamelodi West.
He then reached out to local school governing board member Wonderful Mthabela to arrange a visit to Pheladi-Nakene primary school to donate goods to the school and its pupils.
Bonolo Mokatse (19) from Botho Bjo Bonolo arranged to do collections of sanitary pads, school stationery, uniforms and shoes through hard work and using her organisation for good to help those less fortunate in Tshwane.
The handover of all the donations was held at the school premises last week Wednesday and hundreds of sanitary pads, dozens of school shirts, a few pairs of school shoes and several boxes of different stationery.
The school identified the learners who deserved the donations.
“It was important for communities to get involved with their local schools and help with either time or sourcing donations,” said De Klerk.
He said it was important to get a better sense of active citizenry to help our next generation of leaders and South Africans that will take the country forward.
Pheladi-Nakene primary applaud Botho Bjo Bonolo for helping learners and starting an amazing project to help their fellow South Africans.
Previously through generous donors, the councillor had sourced paint and other materials for the school.
