Foundation donates shoes to north schools

Each school received 25 pairs of shoes.

The Tsholofelo foundation donated 50 school shoes to Phuthanang Primary School and Meetsing Primary School in Soshanguve recently.

Founder of Tsholofelo foundation Tsholofelo Phetla said the schools each received 25 pairs of shoes.

Phetla said they were approached by Mmabatho Hopane requesting to partner with them to donate school shoes.

“She bought the shoes using her salary. She spent R2 500 on school shoes, and some of the shoes we donated were received from our donors.”

Phetla said what prompted them to donate to these schools was the fact that both these were around their homes.

“As they say charity begins at home, but we chose Phuthanang because we both attended our primary school there.

“I grew up so fortunate my parents could afford to buy me new school shoes and uniform every first term, but what got to me was that some of my classmates were not so privileged. That impacted their self-esteem and I thought I can bring the change in some of these children because I’m working now,” Phetla said.

Phetla said the donation would boost the learners’ self-esteem and they will not feel inferior to other learners who were bought new shoes for the new year.

“This will boost their self-esteem because now they will be on the same level as the kids who were bought new shoes when schools reopened. They will now be the same as their peers, and they will not feel down anymore around those with new shoes.”

Phetla thanked Hopane for her donations and urged her to continue doing so to others.

“I just want to thank her for what she did, our foundation needs people like her. Her support helped us further our mission. Thinking of us and choosing us means a lot to us, continue helping others to receive more blessings.”
