About 350 people were arrested during various operations conducted by police officers in the Tshwane district.
Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said although the high density, intelligence-driven operations and stop-and-searches were conducted throughout Tshwane, the main focus areas were Ekangala, Temba and Hammanskraal.
“Although the focus was in other parts of the district, other officers were also hard at work in the west of the city, where two wanted cash-in-transit heist suspects were arrested in Atteridgeville,” he said, adding that two more arrests were also made at a house in the vicinity by the women and men blue.
Police also recovered firearms and ammunition.

“Among the others arrested in the Tshwane district were over 40 suspects for liquor-related offences, including dealing in liquor without a licence, drunken driving and drinking in public.”
Other arrests made during the weekend were for, among others, theft out of motor vehicle, housebreaking, shoplifting and theft, attempted murder, use of motor vehicle without consent, rape, malicious damage to property, business robbery, contravention of the road traffic act, theft, armed robbery, possession of stolen motor vehicle, house robbery, dealing in liquor without a licence, dealing in drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm, assault, contravention of protection order, trespassing and business breaking.

Meanwhile, district commissioner Major-General Hilda Mohajane hailed the officers for remaining resolute while they executed their duties and ensuring residents were safe.
