Ga-Rankuwa man sentenced to three years for fraud
"He was arrested for defrauding unsuspecting job seekers, getting them to pay money in exchange for non-existing jobs at government departments."
Ga-Rankuwa police have welcomed the sentencing of Ernest Mlengetsha (31), who was sentenced to three years imprisonment for fraud and misrepresentation at the Ga-Rankuwa magistrate’s court last week Tuesday.
Mlengetsha was arrested for defrauding unsuspecting job seekers, getting them to pay him money in exchange for non-existing jobs at government departments.
Previously police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi said, working closely with the victims, police found the man had committed similar scams in Limpopo. Further investigations led police to Ga-Rankuwa where he was arrested.
“It also emerged that Mlengetsha, who at times posed as a priest, might have other outstanding cases in other provinces.”
Ga-Rankuwa Communication Officer Shimi Tsheole said the police welcome the sentence handed down by the court.
“We believe this will send a strong message to people who are thinking of doing the same because crimes like these usually have copycats. We want to discourage people from doing this because they will be arrested.”
