15 liquor outlets shut down during police operations
More than 300 people were also arrested for various crimes.

Weekend police joint-operations saw 15 liquor outlets shut down in Pretoria and more than 300 suspects arrested for various crimes.
The operations were led by Tshwane district commissioner Major-General Hilda Mohajane.
The suspects were arrested for different offences ranging from violation of a protection order, possession of illicit cigarettes, public drinking, driving under the influence of alcohol, robberies, assault GBH, common assault, sexual offences, residential and business burglaries, shoplifting, theft, drug-related crimes including possession of drugs (nyaope), illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, contravention of the liquor act, contravention of immigration act and contravention of the road traffic act.
Mohajane said she was disappointed in people despite the government placing the country under stricter lockdown regulations.
“A large number of people were warned for not wearing mask and this behaviour and ignorance by the public result in a high increase of Covid-19 infections in Tshwane,” she said.
Tshwane law enforcement would continue to ensure that Covid-19 regulations were enforced at all times, she warned, urging members of the integrated law enforcement to sustain the momentum in addressing crime.
Arrested suspects were expected to appear before different magistrates’ courts around Tshwane district in due course.
