Metro condemns theft and vandalism at Mamelodi fire station
The Tshwane metro further call on law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

The city of Tshwane has condemned “in the strongest possible terms” the theft and vandalism that occurred at the Mamelodi fire station construction site this past Saturday.
Tshwane metro MMC for community safety Karen Meyer condemned the theft and vandalism at the Mamelodi fire station that is under construction next to Mamelodi bus depot in extension 6.
“Security guards stationed at the site were attacked, with some hospitalised, as the vandals destroyed windows and doors and stripped electrical cables,” said Meyer.

“We send our well wishes to the security guards and wish them a speedy recovery.”
The Tshwane metro called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and ensure the perpetrators were brought to book.
Meyer said the construction of the Mamelodi fire station was almost complete with minor outstanding issues needing to be finalised before the project completion date, which was set for later this week.

She called on the community to contact law enforcement agencies with any information of the incident.
“The station is meant to serve the local community, so we view this vandalism as a criminal attack on the well-being and best interests of residents in the greater Mamelodi area.

“The Tshwane metro is assessing the damage at the site and will soon determine the way forward.
“We have also added additional security to the site to prevent further theft and vandalism.”
Record is still waiting for comment from the police.
