Woman (50) arrested for opening a ‘false’ case
“Upon searching the place police recovered parts of vehicles that were reported stolen and hijacked.”
A 50-year-old woman was arrested in Tshwane on Thursday, after voluntarily selling her vehicle to a second-hand dealership, to be stripped and then later opened a false case to the police.
Captain Mavela Masondo said during the O Kae Molao operation, law enforcement officers pounced on premises where new and second-hand car parts were sold.
“Upon searching the place police recovered parts of vehicles that were reported stolen and hijacked. These vehicles included an Audi R57, Mercedes Benz A Class and Hyundai Creta.”
Masondo said the 50-year-old owner of the Hyundai Creta was traced.
“Upon interviewing her, it was established that she voluntarily sold her car to the second-hand dealership to be stripped then later opened a false case of car hijacking at the Pretoria North police station.”
He said the woman was arrested and charged with perjury.
He said police in their operations started tracing wanted suspects across the province and enforcing level 4 regulations.

Masondo said police were also able to find 640 suspects who had committed crimes that included murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, rape, sexual assault, robbery and car hijacking.
“In enforcing compliance with disaster management act, police also had to turn back more than 50 cars that were entering and leaving Gauteng as drivers did not have permits as required for level 4 lockdown regulations.”
He said all arrested suspects were set to appear at various magistrate’s courts in due course.
