Tough road ahead for u19 league winners
U19 team to advance into Super League after winning an u19 decider match at the beginning of October will have to work hard in order to participate in a highly competitive division, says member of Malfa Competition Committee.
A team to win the u.19 decider match must beef up its performance standard to compete effectively in a highly competitive Super League division, the member of the Mamelodi Local Football Association (Malfa) competition committee, Joshua Malwa, said.
“The winning team will have to work hard to meet the standard of the Super League,” Malwa told Rekord.
This is as Mamelodi Sundowns and an unknown winner of Malfa East Stream League are set to face each other in the crucial match of the u.19 soccer season, scheduled to take place at the beginning of next month.

Malfa is currently unable to officially announce a winner of East Stream League, pending an outcome of an officially launched dispute between Limpopo Gunners and Liverpool.
According to Malwa, the dispute, as well as referee training scheduled to take place this weekend, led to the postponement of the decider match. The decider game, initially scheduled to take place this weekend shall now happen at the beginning of October.
Downs, which was competing in the Malfa West Stream League, won the league with a 40 goal difference and 36 points in a total of 16 games. The goal difference had to be considered after the three top teams in the West Stream League including Downs, Dondol Stars and No Fear Boys, tied at 36 points each.
This put Downs in the top spot with a 40 goal difference followed by Dondol Stars and No Fear Boys with 25 and 16 in second and third places respectively.
Downs received a major boost in terms of goal difference when defeating Mamelodi Eagles 12-0 in their final west stream league match at Muckleneuk Sports Ground in Mamelodi West two weeks ago.
Malwa congratulated all u.19 teams for playing with dedication under challenging Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
“Our u.19 teams have done well,” he said.

He said he would, however, like to see the winner of the u.19 league develop in Super League.
“The Super League is an open league – not u.19 – and it is extremely tough.”
He said the young stars to advance into Super League would be able to quickly gain the necessary experience and do well in the higher division.
