Pretoria Gardens business owner airlifted to hospital after shooting

A 56-year-old business owner was in a critical condition after he was shot several times in the upper body during an attempted robbery in Pretoria Gardens on Wednesday afternoon.
AmbuLink ambulance services spokesperson Xander Loubser said the violent robbery took place in Sannie Street after which the owner of the secondhand car dealership and pawn shop was airlifted by Halo Aviation to Netcare Milpark hospital in Johannesburg for intensive treatment.
According Loubser, paramedics responded to the shooting around 12:00.
“Best Care Emergency medical services, AmbuLink and ER24 treated the patient on the scene where he was in a critical condition,” he said.
“Multiple shots were allegedly fired between the victim and the two suspects,” Loubser said.
He thanked the medical personnel who responded for their assistance and wished the victim a speedy recovery.
Two suspects aged 25 and 42 were arrested by Hercules police.
Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident were currently unknown.
“Police are still on the scene where they are busy with an investigation. The suspects will remain in custody,” he said.
