Daring aerial displays take centre stage at Wonderboom Air Show

From vintage warbirds and pylon racing to family entertainment, Pretoria’s flagship aviation festival delivered non-stop action on the tarmac and in the skies.

Wonderboom Airport was a hive of activity this past weekend, as the Wonderboom Airshow 2026 welcomed thousands of attendees to witness and take part in some of the aerobatics, and military and civilian aircraft displays.

Some of the highlights of the day’s events included the G-Force Festival, aircraft vs car racing, pylon racing, world-class aerobatics, Jungle X motocross stunts, helicopter flips, vintage aircraft and World War II warbirds.

From roaring engines, tight formations, daring manoeuvres and the unmistakable sound of aviation history coming alive overhead, some of South Africa’s top aerobatic pilots took to the skies, pushing their extraordinary aircraft to the limit with stunning aerial displays.

Guests also enjoyed various displays from the Puma Flying Lions, Master Power Extras, Vintage Biplane Formo, Marksmen Aerobatic Team, Crazy Flying (Orion Club) and Skydivers in the Lama.

The day’s events also included an emergency vehicles runway parade, stolen vehicle recovery (Bell 222) and Magani Gyro display.

MMC for Roads and Transport Tlangi Mogale remarked that the day’s events were nothing short of spectacular.

“Today, we joined aviation enthusiasts, families and visitors to witness the incredible displays of aviation excellence, skill and precision. Events like these celebrate our city’s vibrant spirit, bring communities together and showcase the many attractions that make Tshwane a destination of choice,” Mogale said.
