Miss Mamelodi donates blankets and sanitary pads

The purpose of all this is to raise awareness to a girl child and empower them to be and do better in life.

Miss Mamelodi 2020 identified five needy households and also donated blankets and sanitary pads to learners of Somafco secondary school recently.

The generous donation was made by Khanyisa Malobola, Miss Mamelodi 2020, and Mbali Modau from Mbalienhle Mndawe child foundation on different dates.

Malobola said they have identified five families but ended up giving to more families than they expected.

“It is all thanks to an actress from Generation, Latoya Makhene who helped with gathering 50 blankets, we were able to give to more families,” said Modau.

She was happy because the blankets they donated will help needy people from Nellmapius to stay warm next winter.

The duo later went to Somafco secondary school to donate 30 sanitary pads to the grade 11 learners and gave a motivational speech to inspire the girls.

Malobola said the purpose of all this was to raise awareness to the girls and to empower them to be and do better in life.

“Let’s go out and change the lives of these children and put smiles on their faces by donating sanitary pads. That will brighten their future as education is the key to success.

“Some of the children have to skip school for a week because they are having their periods – and that is a problem. I would be very happy if someone can help.”

Miss Mamelodi aims to bring change to the community by all means with the little she has.

Malobola said she hoped to use her pageant platforms to help the needy.

She also encouraged people and learners to love one another, be united and lend a helping hand where needed.

Malobola said she will continue helping the needy and hope other businesses would come on board and assist too.

“The day you find out who you are is when you look back and realise that it was never the words but rather your actions that define you and a kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal,” she said.
