"The areas were identified following a spate of offences where GBH and Assault Common were prevalent and creating uneasiness to the community at large."

“About 1 200 pamphlets were distributed by the police and the stakeholders who formed part of the station. The pamphlets entailed what is GBH and what is common assault, how to avoid them and the sentences they both carry to those who commit the offences.”

He said the station encouraged the community to live together despite their tribal, economical, religious and or educational differences.

“The station further told and promised the community that justice will be served to the victims of GBH and common assault.

“The community was also told that the wheels of justice may not be turning in the eyes of victims but were assured that they are turning and perpetrators will soon be brought to book.

“The station further advised the community on how to avoid falling victims of burglaries, robberies and to avoid buying stolen goods like cellphones, television sets and sound systems but to blow the whistle on such sellers.”

Rietgat police station commander, Brigadier Molatelo Maphoto urged the community to continue with the good work of being the eyes and ears of the police.
