Comedy versus rock; celebs to face each other in second edition boxing match

Lead singer of South African rock band Prime Circle, Ross Learmonth will face off against comedian, Kevin Fraser.

The second edition of its kind celebrity boxing match which has fans across the globe abuzz will meet face-to-face on November 6, 2021.

Two local celebrities are gearing up to take each other on in the boxing ring next month.

The first onslaught of speculation about the chances of victory of the two featured celebrity boxers has already started.

Lead singer of South African rock band Prime Circle, Ross Learmonth will face off against comedian, Kevin Fraser.

Sportland has been announced as the title sponsor of BOXOP 2.

Once again, this event has been created to give everyone – everywhere across South Africa and the world – a front-row seat in their own homes to see who will come out on top, bad-boy rock or – this time around – bad-boy comedy.

Who will be crowned champion? Learmonth in the red corner or Fraser in the blue corner?

Learmonth, musician, vocalist and lyricist, has spent the past two decades breaking international boundaries. Since their first single, Hello, rocketed to the top of the charts in 2003, the band achieved over 10 number one hits in South Africa and Germany. Showcasing his superb songwriting abilities, he ventured into solo projects in 2019. His long-awaited debut solo EP is set to be released in late 2021.

Known for the high energy he brings to the stage, Fraser’s shows and tours have entertained diverse audiences – in venues and at festivals counting more than 100 – across South Africa, Australia, Europe, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Miami in the USA. After a stint in Australia in 2014, Fraser’s natural comedic talent brought to life a community of stereotypical South African personas.

Six professional fights, presented under the auspices of Boxing South Africa, including the South African heavyweight title fight, will also be on the card on November 6.

Some of South Africa’s top music performers will round up the night’s sports entertainment offering.

Sportland BOXOP is gearing up to be one of the hottest topics this spring – a sparring match of arguments about the probability of each celebrity boxer’s ability to brawl his way to the light of victory.

Learmonth and Fraser will be tied up in question marks until the final bell rings.

Earlier this year during the first edition of BOXOP, South African rock star, Francois van Coke was crowned champion when he came face-to-face against former fly-half of the Blue Bulls, Derick Hougaard.
