A motorist was killed during a head-on collision in Garsfontein on Monday morning.

Herbst said the Gauteng Provincial Government Rescue Unit had to use hydraulic tools to free the man’s body from the wreckage.
The driver of the Ranger bakkie had sustained moderate injuries.

In a separate incident, a pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a vehicle on the R21, east of Pretoria on Sunday evening.
This happened on the R21 near the Solomon Mahlangu off-ramp in Monument Park, Herbst said.

“Reports indicate that the driver of a bakkie lost control, resulting in a roll-over, striking a pedestrian in the process.
“Medics declared the pedestrian, an adult male, dead on the scene,” Herbst said.
The driver of the bakkie did not sustain any injuries.
