Microchipping drive and generous donations to the SPCA
“Microchipping is extremely important as it gives the animals a "voice and identity" and offer them the chance of being re-united with their owners in the event that they are lost or stolen.”
Animal Angels Gauteng held another successful microchipping and rabies vaccination drive at the Centurion SPCA this past Saturday.
“They managed to microchip and vaccinate a whopping 127 animals. During the coming week we will microchip and vaccinate another 15 cats and dogs,” said Karin Gelderblom, manager of Centurion SPCA.
“Earlier this year we held a similar, but smaller microchipping drive for Valentine’s Day.”
She said many pet owners would love to have their animals microchipped but simply cannot afford it.
“Microchipping is extremely important as it gives the animals a ‘voice and identity’ and offer them the chance of being reunited with their owners if they are lost or stolen.”
She said lastly, “a huge thank you to the amazing SPCA”.
“You ladies were absolutely amazing. Once again, we had an incident-free day despite being extremely busy and working under challenging conditions. All funds raised will go towards the upgrade project at the Centurion SPCA.
“We also constantly need to upgrade the premises and building materials such as paint and fencing are welcome. Even electrical services will be greatly appreciated, or residents’ time or expertise to assist us with this task.”

Erika Reich, the founder of Animal Angels, said they started to support the animals during Covid last year and donated blankets that they collect because it is a special cause.
“We also have a vaccination drive and help out with renovations,” Reich said.
“Support means a great deal to us,” said Gelderblom.
“That is how we grow and support the animals. People must get involved. We always have projects going, please assist regardless of your skills or interest.”
The organisers also thanked all their sponsors for making the day possible.
