Soshanguve bouncer arrested for alleged kidnapping, murder

"After the suspects were informed that they were sought by the police they re-emerged days later in the company of their lawyer to hand themselves over. "

A well-known Soshanguve bouncer and a friend were arrested on Thursday, following an alleged beating that led to the death of his neighbour who was accused of stealing a television set in block GG in Soshanguve.

Rietgat police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said a preliminary investigation suggested the man, who later died and his friend [who is fighting for his life in the hospital], were forced to get into a vehicle driven by the bouncer who was with his friends.

“It is alleged the two men were taken to a veld outside Rietgat precinct where they were both beaten until one of them could not respond anymore. They poured water over him, but he remained unmoving.

“Upon realising that he was not responding, the suspects threw him into the boot of their VW Golf 6 and drove back to where they picked them up. They dropped the assaulted pair before going into hiding.”

Maluleka said a witness noticed the vehicle as it was dropping off the victims and called the police.

“Responding swiftly, the police found that the assaulted man had already passed on.

“After the suspects were informed that they were sought by the police, they re-emerged days later in the company of their lawyer to hand themselves over. They were arrested and charged with murder and kidnapping,” Maluleka said.

Rietgat police station commander, Brigadier Molatelo Maphoto, lauded the community members who worked with the police in putting pressure on the suspects to hand themselves up to the police.

“If we are looking for you, we will exhaust all the resources at our disposal to ensure that you are behind bars and do your time for all the criminal deeds that you always evaded,” said Maphoto.

Maluleka said the suspects were expected to appear before the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.

“Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of any wanted suspects or experiencing criminal activity should call Rietgat SAPS at 071 675 6250 or 012 432 7806/07 CrimeStop hotline 08600 10111 or tip us off via MySAPS App downloadable for free.”
