Four nabbed with suspected stolen electronics in CBD

Police received a tip-off about a business robbery taking place at the Cultural Museum.

Swift reaction by police led to the arrest of four men in the Pretoria CBD last week.

The four men, aged between 25 and 47 were found in possession of allegedly stolen property, said Pretoria Central police spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkhumise.

He said police received a tip-off about a business robbery at the Cultural Museum.

“A lookout was then sent out for a white Toyota Impala Quantum and soon after, a vehicle fitting the given description was spotted in Salvokop.

“The suspects’ Quantum was stopped and inside, electronic appliances were found, including four plasma screens, seven various brands of cellphones, four remotes, a computer screen and a palette gun.”

Nkhumise said the suspects were taken to Pretoria Central SAPS and charged with possession of the suspected stolen property estimated to be valued at around R46 000.

Acting Central station commander, Colonel Maboea, was pleased with the arrest and applauded the members for making sure that the culprits were brought to justice.

He stated that the white Toyota Quantum had been terrorising numerous businesses in the city centre.

He was hopeful that the investigation would determine if the Quantum could be linked to other reported business robberies.

All four suspects were due to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
