N4 gruesome murder: Yet another Mamelodi family mourning as man gunned down on N4 highway
Distraught family left speechless. "We have no words," they said, while removing the deceased's personal effects from the scene.
The family of a 35-year-old man brutally murdered with what was described to be a heavy calibre gun, removed his personal effects from a car full of bullet holes on Tuesday afternoon.
Given Mnguni was shot several times and killed while driving his black Volkswagen Polo on the N4 highway near Donkerhoek on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Yeroboam Mbatsane said police were alerted of the incident around 10:30.
Mbatsane said Mnguni was driving towards Pretoria when two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz and a Ford Ranger, fired shots in a high speed chase.
His car then veared off the road past a fence and into the bushes.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the assailants then stopped their vehicles and pursued Mnguni’s vehicle on foot where they shot him several times.
“Two other people [who were travelling with the deceased] were shot and injured, however one was treated and released on scene, while the other sustained minor injuries and was hospitalised,” Mbatsane said.

“It was suspected that the incident may have been an attempted hijacking, but through speaking to eyewitnesses we realised that we were dealing with a serious scene,” he said.
“It was not an attempted hijacking. We will be investigating a case of murder.”
Mnguni took multiple gunshots, some to the head, killing him on the scene. When approached by the Rekord, distraught siblings of the deceased said: “There is nothing to say that could bring him back. As his family we are in deep pain, we have no words.”
Four hours after the police collected evidence from the crime scene, the family went to take what was left of the deceased’s belongings and clothes from his car, which was stuck in the bush where he was gunned down.
The family from Mamelodi West, carried out the clothes of their brother in small bags.
At the crime scene, various police units collected evidence as shocked motorists and family members looked on.

Over the past two months, several people from Mamelodi have been violently shot and killed in public view.
Mbatsane said police were treating the case as a high profile case and would be giving it the attention it deserved.
