It has a social worker on-site to assist victims of gender-based violence.
Victims of gender-based violence (GBV) can now get help at a new Women’s Brigade office at Amanda Park.
“The office has a social worker on-site to assist,” said Women’s Brigade chairperson Boitumelo Mashakane.
The new office was opened on October 11.
Members of the Vhathu Phanda community organisation partnered with the V van Heerden Foundation to promote the new office as well as to raise awareness of gender-based violence in the Newtown, Plot 124 and Amanda Park informal settlements.
They were joined by the local CPF as they went door-to-door to distribute pamphlets on Friday dealing with issues such as domestic violence and substance abuse.
