20 injured in three-vehicle crash

One critical patient was airlifted to Halo aviation to a private hospital.

Twenty people were injured in an accident that involved two taxis and a truck in the west of Pretoria on Monday morning.

The crash happened on Van der Hoff Road and Tuin Street at around 06:30, said Best Care spokesperson Xander Loubser.

“The driver of the minitruck claimed that one taxi tried to overtake the other and ended up colliding with his truck head-on. The other taxi’s involvement is unclear,” he said.

“About 20 people suffered moderate to serious injuries. One critical patient was airlifted to Halo aviation to a private hospital.”

Loubser said the so-called “Jaws of Life” was used to get the truck driver out of the truck.

“He suffered moderate injuries and he, along with other people, were transported to various hospitals,” Loubser said.
