Moot resident is the newly crowned Mrs Tshwane
"Winning this prize and title holds tremendous responsibility and is an extreme honour to have achieved it. One becomes an ambassador for the city you live in."
Moot resident Angie Nel was crowned Mrs Pretoria-Tshwane for 2022 during a glamorous event at the Indaba hotel on Saturday, November 20.
“Winning this prize and title holds tremendous responsibility and is an extreme honour to have achieved it. One becomes an ambassador for the city you live in,” she said.
Nel admits that being crowned as the overall winner, came as a surprise.
“This competition looks at what you do for your community, what your influence is towards less fortunate individuals, charities, and your overall goal in life. I knew that I worked extremely hard this year.
“I will continue my hard work during my year of reign in 2022,” she said.
This former Mrs Johannesburg first princess, said that each of us has more influence than we realise.
“Each one of us can impact people in many ways. We just need to get out there and do that.
“I’m looking forward to a jam-packed year ahead working towards another successful Power Towers Food Drive next year as well as completing our Starfish places of safety.
“My greatest wish is to encourage the community to stand together, and together we can continue to grow and better our community.”
Last year, she managed to gather an incredible total of 22 tons of food to feed over 1 000 families.
“This year, our goal is to double the total by 44 tons,” she said.

“A strong woman knows she has strength for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is in the journey where she will become strong.”
Her message to women, is to do what makes you feel good, “because there will always be someone who thinks you should do it differently”.
“Whether your choices are hits or misses, at least they’re your own.”
In addition to the projects above, Nel is involved in other projects on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
“We need a lot of help and assistance from the community. I am involved at Imfundo Educare, Asanté-Neo-Life Project and Tamakhulu Project of Rolemodels Foundation for Senior Citizens.
“The Imfundo Educare, is a project aimed at intervening in destitute communities, to initiate and support crèches, Educare and homework centres. A child who starts school without any educational foundation starts life off at a disadvantage,” she said.
She also feels strongly about the Asanté-Neo-Life project to protect mothers and children from abuse.
“I have a passion for what I do and I am proud of what I achieved so far.
“I want to continue to make a difference in the community and I want to keep on touching lives,” she said.
