Theuns’ mother passes away two days after his burial
Two weeks ago, Afrikaans singer and songwriter, Theuns Jordaan (50), lost a battle against cancer.

The mother of the famed Afrikaans singer, Theuns Jordaan, who was buried on Friday, died on Sunday.

According to family spokesperson Ilza Roggeband, Jordaan’s mother, Maryna (79), has been in a care home in Bethulie, close to the family farm just outside Venterstad.
She said Jordaan’s father, Willie, returned home on Sunday after attending his son’s funeral, which was held on Friday. Jordaan’s sister, Linda Roggeband said, she was also living at the care home to be close to Maryna, and she was with her when she passed on.
“My mother and I watched As Jy Sing the previous evening; a film in which Bobby van Jaarsveld played a role, she had a twinkle in her eye,” Linda said.
“I held her hand on Sunday morning when she left. It is going to leave such a huge void in our lives.”

Linda said her parents met in 1965 in Aliwal North and was married for 56 years.
“My father was a farmer and my mother was the new teacher in town,” she said.
Various people took to social media to express their condolences. Bobby van Jaarsveld said he knows it is a cliché, but he realises how short this life is.
“Do what you have to do, live life, be who you are, and appreciate those around you. Steve Hofmeyr bemoaned the fact that one family has to go through so much misfortune.

He said he doesn’t know how Theuns’ father, Willie, will process it all, and that he hopes Theuns’ sister, Linda, and he will find it in themselves to look up and make sense of it all.
Charlize Berg said it was heartbreaking to hear the news about Theuns’ beloved mother.
“My heart goes out to everyone.” Ignaz Streicher said his heart breaks for the Jordaan family. “Theuns’ mother joined him in heaven today.” To Theuns’ father, he said that God is great and strong.
“He will hold you in His arms with peace and quiet.”
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:00 from the Dutch Reformed church in Venterstad, said Roggeband.
