Man sentenced to 15 years for murder

Mashiya was found guilty for the murder of a 52-year-old man at the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate's Court.

Bronkhorstspruit police have welcomed the sentencing of Patrick Mashiya, who was found guilty of murder.

Police spokesperson Constable Munyadziwa Ramovha said the Bronkhorstspruit magistrate’s court found Mashiya guilty of the murder of a 52-year-old man. “In June, members of the crime prevention unit were on duty when they received a complaint at Zithobeni, ext 1 next to Kgoro Primary School.

On arrival, the unit found an unknown man lying on the tar road with multiple injuries on his forehead,” she said. Munyadziwa said the deceased was wearing black shoes, black pants and a black jersey.

Detective Sergeant Michael Ngoma was assigned to investigate the docket and through his good investigation, Mashiya was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 15 years direct imprisonment, she said. “

Bronkhorstspruit police management believe the sentence would send a strong message to other people who think of committing similar offences and commends the investigating officer for the good work

“We would like to warn residents and business owners of an increase of business robberies as the festive season fast approaches.

During this time, we experience many cash robberies and business robberies,” Ramovha said.
