Two armed men arrested in Laudium
While one suspect was ransacking the house, the homeowner arrived.
Two armed men were arrested while robbing a Laudium home on Wednesday afternoon.
The robbery happened in 5th Avenue, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe.
“Four people were inside the house when two men, one of them armed with a firearm, stormed into the house and demanded keys and a bag. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at them before tying them up with cable ties,” said Chokoe.
“While one suspect was ransacking the house, the homeowner arrived and was immediately ordered to lie down on the ground at gunpoint.”

Chokoe said the suspects then left the house with cellphones, keys and a wallet carrying an undisclosed amount of cash
However, a swift response from the police, community and security companies led to the arrest of the suspect who was still in the yard.
Another suspect was arrested later following the police’s preliminary investigation.
Chokoe said a case of house robbery was opened at Laudium SAPS for investigation.
Station commander Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Nkwane applauded police officers and security companies for their swift response that led to the arrest of both suspects.
