Excitement ran high as the annual Miss Mamelodi Superb and Little Mamelodi Superb 2021 beauty pageant returned.

Excitement ran high as the annual Miss Mamelodi Superb and Little Mamelodi Superb 2021 beauty pageant returned.

Now in its second year, the annual event was held at Ikageng community hall in Mamelodi East.

Basetsana Mokoena (16) was crowned as Miss Mamelodi Superb 2021, while Kentse Sogona (9) walked away with two sashes for Little Miss Mamelodi Superb and Miss Confidence.

Founder of the event, Gontse Noko organised the event together with her daughter Karabo Noko and Salfina Mampane.

In all, 30 contestants participated in the event.

“Miss Mamelodi Superb has made sure that crowned princesses also walked away with lots of prizes,” said Noko.

Kanyisa Simbini (9) was crowned as 1st princess and Ofentse Masoma (9) crowned 2nd princess for Miss Little Mamelodi.

Boipelo Mosoma (16) was 1st princess and Bongankosi Gumbo (19) was 2nd princess for the Miss Mamelodi Superb 2021.

Noko said the competition was not about beauty, but rather to build self-confidence.

“It’s your inner beauty that matters. It is important to build confidence at a young age.

“Being part of the pageant is a great honour and an opportunity to give back to the community. One act of humanity can make an impact,” said Noko.

“The Mamelodi Superb Youth Foundation started in 2019 where we were running an online competition and today it is an annual pageant.

“Our doors are open for all genders. The boys are taking part in the talent show by showcasing their talents on stage.”

The date for the next event will be announced next year, but it will only be after matriculants have finished writing their final year examinations.
