No hail was expected but the heavy rain could result in localised and flash flooding especially in low-lying areas.

For Pretoria, a 60% chance of thunderstorms is expected in the later afternoon, going into the evening, said SA Weather Service spokesperson Kumsa Masizana.

Masizana said no rain was expected for the rest of the week.

“For Thursday, we are expecting fine conditions with a minimum of 15°C and a maximum of 28°C.

“Friday will see temperatures reach 30°C with fine conditions.”

Motorists are advised to avoid all low-lying bridges, especially at night when it is harder to recognise flood dangers.
