Stolen items recovered at East dumping site

The operation consisted of Lyttelton police, Pretoria police K9, Tshwane metro police, Bidvest Protea Coin, Brinant and Bull security.

Police undertook a multi-disciplinary operation, which led them to recover a number of stolen items in Wingate Park, east of Pretoria, on Friday morning.

The operation consisted of Lyttelton police, Pretoria police K9, Tshwane metro police, Bidvest Protea Coin, Brinant and Bull security.

This operation, conducted at the Garskloof dumping site, comes after a spike in housebreakings, petty thefts, and robberies that have been reported in the surrounding areas adjacent to the old dumping site, said Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.

During the course of the operation, several suspected stolen items, drugs, and dagga trees were recovered.

Miller said this was the first of several operations to be held at the dumping site.

Lyttelton police station commander, Brigadier TP Matlala thanked all the members who were involved in the operation, and has sent out a stern warning to the criminal elements out there.

“The streets of Lyttelton belong to the community and the police, together with our crime-fighting partners, will do everything in our power to ensure that they remain safe and crime-free,” he said.

“We would like to remind the community to get involved with their local Community Policing Forums. It is only by working together that we will be able to win the war against crime,” said Matlala.
