Villieria man was “ray of sunshine”

“Although we know that he is at God’s feet, he will leave a huge gap on earth.”

A family from Villieria in the Moot are devastated after their son was electrocuted when he touched a live wire while he was busy with electrical work on Tuesday morning.

Brandonn Pretorius (23) was rushed to Intercare in Lynnwood by a close family member, Brink Oosthuizen, but it was too late.

Mother, Chrisna, said that Brandonn was their “ray of sunshine and a dreamer”.

“Our son’s death still feels so unreal,” she said.

“Although we know that he is at God’s feet, he will leave a huge gap on earth.”

It has been a tough eight years for the Pretorius family. Brandonn and his mother Chrisna were in a serious head-on motor vehicle collision on the corners of Robert Sobukwe (Esselen) and Greef streets in Sunnyside.

“I could not walk for seven months whereas Brandonn sustained permanent brain damage.

“As parents, we did the best we could for Brandonn in terms of academics as he could not read or write, but it is only grace that he passed matric.

“Brandonn was loved by so many people, and we will walk his tough race on earth with him over and over again,” said Chrisna.

Brandonn is survived by his mother and father, Eric and Chrisna, sister Megan (22) and his baby brother, Joshua (11), family and friends.

“The two brothers were very close. Joshua looked up to his big brother.

“On the morning of his death, he wanted to buy an ice machine to start a business. He always came up with new initiatives to make money.”

The heartbroken mother said that she has received many phone calls and condolence messages.

“He always had a smile on his face.

“He would pray for everyone who was going through a tough time – whether in a shopping mall or the street. He had a caring heart.

“Rest in peace, my dear child. You are where you belong,” said Chrisna.

Brandonn’s memorial service will take place on January 29 in Sinoville.
