Three-day operations held in parts of Pretoria
“A manager at one business was found to be in contravention of the Immigration Act and fined R2 500.”
Police held operations, focused mostly on Pretoria Central, Pretoria West, Sunnyside, Mamelodi, PTA Moot, Mamelodi and other policing precincts, from this Wednesday to Friday.
The operations were in conjunction with home affairs, the Gauteng traffic department, the Tshwane metro police and Tshwane emergency services, according to police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
She said the three-day operations saw law enforcement carrying out compliance inspections at various businesses that included second-hand goods dealerships, liquor outlets and hair salons.

In separate successes, police found a person was with an unlicensed firearm while 11 were arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.
“A manager at one of the businesses was found to be in contravention of Section 38 (22) (b) of the Immigration Act No 13 of 2002 and fined R2 500.
“In addition, fines were issued to businesses trading without a valid license to the value of R5 000, four illegal liquor outlets were closed and seven fines were issued to second-hand good dealers for non-compliance.”
She said the operations were to deter crime and improve the quality of life and personal safety of all people in Tshwane so that they can feel safe and secure when walking, shopping and driving in the city.
Some of the arrested suspects have already appeared in various magistrate’s courts across the district.
