Man airlifted after vehicle overturns on N1
The passenger suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a private hospital.
A man was seriously injured when a light delivery vehicle overturned on the N1 North, near Garsfontein Road, east of Pretoria on Thursday morning.
The accident happened at around 10:00 and caused hours of delay at the R21 Flying Saucer interchange.
Casper Visser from Vemru medics said a light delivery vehicle overturned, injuring two people.
“The passenger suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a private hospital. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene,” he said.
In a separate accident on the N1 North before the Garsfontein offramp, a truck overturned and several lanes had to be closed, said Visser.
“This happened after 11:00 in the backlog of traffic from the first accident involving a delivery vehicle.”
He said no injuries were reported.
