Moot hit-and-run victim’s family offers reward
The family decided to step in with a reward offer of R10 000 for information leading to the conviction of the driver of the motor vehicle.
The family of a 48-year-old man, who was hit by a Silver Toyota Hilux double cab on Sunday, January 30, has offered a R10 000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the vehicle’s driver.
John Young was killed in Steve Biko Road in Pretoria near the traffic lights on the corner of Steve Biko Road and De Beer Street at around 06:00.
Young was declared dead on the scene.

His father, Johnny Young, said he managed to get video footage of the accident but, unfortunately, the number plate was not clear on the footage.
“My son was killed and the driver simply picked up the registration plate and fled the scene,” said Johnny.
The family were on their way to church when they received a phone call from Young’s wife, Elmari, to inform them that their son was involved in a hit-and-run incident.
“Our Heavenly Father is in control. We believe that someone will come forward with the necessary information to arrest the driver of the Hilux,” he said.
As previously reported, Wonderboompoort police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said that pieces of a bumper, fender and headlight were found at the scene.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
“At the time of the accident, the Hilux had a white canopy.

Reinhard Raschke of Citi Protection said his death was a huge loss for the company.
“He had always been at his post. He was the salt of the earth.
“We will not rest until the suspect is behind bars,” he said.
John was laid to rest by his family on Friday, February 4.
He leaves behind his wife Elmari, father Johnny, mother Cecilia and his younger sisters, Cecilia and Rencia, and his brother Wayne.
