Firefighter recovers after geyser falls on him in Centurion house fire
“About 23 years ago I responded to a fire at this exact house.”

A firefighter who was injured in a house fire in Centurion last Tuesday evening is recovering well following the ordeal.
Tshwane Emergency Services’ spokesperson Charles Mabasa said the firefighter was treated at a local hospital after a geyser fell on his shoulder while attending to a house fire in Roedolf Avenue.
The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
Emergency services responded to the fire which damaged the roof of the Centurion property on Tuesday evening.
Spokesperson for CERT SA, Ruan Heyns said one of their vehicles was passing by when the house fire was spotted and they responded.
“According to my knowledge, there were three people in the house, a man, woman, and a child. None of them were hurt.”
Heyns said he was aware the house has previously burnt down a couple of years ago.
“It used to be a double-storey house”.
Another firefighter who was on the scene said the fire was “already through the roof when we arrived”.
“About 23 years ago I responded to a fire at this exact house,” he said.
The owner of the property, who did not want to be named, said the family was severely traumatised.
Ina Strijdom, DA councillor of ward 66, said community members assisted the family by providing them with food vouchers and money.
“When I approached them I was informed that the family did not need any clothes, I believe they have been able to save that.
“The couple’s son and daughter came to assist the residents on Tuesday evening.”
