Moot security groups compete in potjiekos cook-off
"It was a day filled with fun and laughter. We are here to serve the community and we just wanted to thank everyone for their dedication to our community."
A team-building day in collaboration with Moot CPF, several security companies and Pretoria Moot police took place at Toutrek Park in Rietfontein recently.
There were burning fires and boiling pots as eight teams competed in a cook-off.
All the potjies were prepared from scratch. The evaluation criteria for the potjie dishes were aroma, colour, taste, texture and of course, the ingredients.
The participants also used the competition as a team-building exercise.

SDS Protection took first prize as their oxtail combined with a red wine reduction and pap impressed a competent hospitality teacher, Ronel Mey.
Moot CPF chairperson Elsabe van Staden said that the various potjies were of a high standard.
“It was not an easy task for Ronel to announce the winner, but at the end of the day, the team of SDS took first prize.
“Each member of the winning team walked away with a bottle of wine as well as a porridge spoon,” she said.

The main reason for the event was to just blow off some steam.
“It was a day filled with fun and laughter. We are here to serve the community and we just wanted to thank everyone for their dedication to our community,” said Van Staden.
A message of thanks was also given to retired members who served their community.
