Police arrest three in possession of stolen tower batteries

"The officers approached them while they were busy with exchanges."

Three men were arrested for possession of stolen property after they were caught with stolen tower batteries in Mamelodi East.

On Friday the Tshwane metro police (TMPD) tactical unit followed up on information about people selling signal tower batteries.

“They followed the suspect to meetings with the buyer. On the first two locations, they did not find the cargo,” a statement by the department read.

“They proceeded to the third location in Mamelodi East. That is where the suspects came with a white bakkie carrying the stolen tower batteries.

“The officers approached them while they were busy with exchanges.”

Two tower batteries were then found. Upon further interrogation a forth venue was revealed where the officers found four more batteries, four solar panels, eight bank cards and six South African IDs that the men could not account for.
