CIT truck bombed in Atteridgeville

“When the explosion finally happened, we were lying flat on the floor because we didn’t want to get injured.”

A cash-in-transit (CIT) truck was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money at Atteridgeville on Monday evening, April 11.

According to a witness at the scene, the incident happened at about 18:30.

The witness said when they got to the scene, the criminals had already stopped the CIT truck and set up explosives.

“When the explosion finally happened, we were lying flat on the floor because we didn’t want to get injured,” he said.

National SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said there were about 15 suspects were seen on the scene.

According to him, there were no fatalities as a result of the heist.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, people can be seen offloading bags from the damaged CIT truck.

People could also be heard saying the robbers took all the cash from the CIT truck.

Netshiunda said no arrests have been made.
