Return of Eersterust Easter soccer tournament to repair community stadium
"We have been struggling to bring back football into our area. Many people in the community have encouraged us to bring football to the young people of Eersterust to keep them occupied."
Soccer fanatics in Eersterust will finally be able to enjoy their favourite sport at their soccer stadium.
This after more than 12 soccer teams signed on to take part in the Easter tournament in which they hope to raise funds for their community soccer stadium.
“The stadium has become an ornament for the past three years after it was vandalised by criminals,” according to Dinoleo Abdeziet, one of the well-known soccer coaches in the area.

“We have been struggling to bring back football into our area. Many people in the community have encouraged us to bring football to the young people of Eersterust to keep them busy,” said Abdeziet.
He added that the stadium needed benches, revamped changing rooms, lights and a good security company to look after the stadium, especially at night.
“Football is a big part of our lives. Many of the youths in our community do not know how it has changed our lives and made us the men we are today. We hope to bring a change with the reintroduction of football in our community,” he said.

Abdeziet highlighted that Computek networks and Reuben Olifant, the owner of Robin Villa, were some of the partners who have joined to contribute to revamp the stadium and help with the tournament.
Vusi Masilela, a youth from Eersterust expected to take part in the tournament, said he was excited and looked forward to playing at the stadium again.
“We are excited to play at the tournament because we did not have a tournament last year due to Covid,” said Masilela.
