Several parts of Pretoria affected by power outages

While power was restored to several areas, others were still without electricity.

Several parts of Pretoria were affected by power outages throughout the Easter weekend.

“We had a few outages in the north of Pretoria, but they were all sorted out within the turnaround time,” ward councillor Yolanda Duvenhage said.

Ward 50 councillor Lenise Breytenbach said the same. “There were a few power outages, but they were fixed within a few hours,” she said.

Breytenbach added that the repair team in Region 2 was “delivery focused and on the ball”. Meanwhile, Ward 82 councillor Siobhan Muller said power outages in her area were resolved.

In Ward 42, where she was standing in for councillor Phillip Nel, power outages were resolved timeously. The main power outage, she noted, was along Main Street.

Muller commended the repair team for working diligently in the rain, despite dealing with electrical cables.

While power had been restored to several areas, some areas were still without electricity.

One such area was Moreletapark. In a brief post on social media, the City of Tshwane said they had found a faulty cable and were organising the resources necessary to repair it.

Ward councillor Ina Strijdom also said several parts of Centurion were without power due to the Njala Kwagga and Noord West power stations being off, but power had since been restored.
