Police continue search for suspect in mother and daughter murder
The Makhura family pleads with the public to contact the police when they see Kenneth Majozi Debella who is wanted for the murder of a mother and daughter from Nellmapius.
The Silverton police are continuing with their search for suspected murderer Kenneth Majozi Debella (31) from Nellmapius regarding the recent murder of his girlfriend and daughter.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer, Isaac Mcunu pleaded with the community of Mamelodi and Nellmapius to help in the search for the suspect.
He said there were rumours that the suspect had been seen in Nellmapius and some parts of Mamelodi.
The public is advised to contact the police when they see him and not to try and apprehend him as he might be armed and dangerous.
“The suspect went missing after his girlfriend Itumeleng Beverly Makhura (31) and her daughter Tshepang (11) were found dead at his father’s house in Nellmapius on March 20,” said Mcunu.
The girlfriend was last seen with her boyfriend leaving Joe Banana tavern on March 18.
The family first started searching for Makhura and sent the daughter to go look for her. After that a search was launched for them both after the 11-year-old never came back.
Mcunu said the police had been working tirelessly on the case and pleaded with public – especially those who have said to have seen the suspect – to contact them immediately.
“The community of Nellmapius found the mother and daughter dead in the suspect’s room after along search. The daughter was found on top of the bed while the mother was found underneath the bed,” he said.
Itumeleng’s younger sister, Bonolo said the police must use all resources they have to find the suspect.
“The public must also contact the police as soon as they see the suspect,” said Bonolo.
The Makhura family further said they were not happy with how police handled the case by not doing a proper search in the boyfriend’s room.
Mcunu added that the motive for the killings was unknown, and a case of murder is being investigated.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 0800 10111/012 845 4000.
