Police rescue alleged robber from mob
The man and two others allegedly robbed an elderly couple of their television and its remote at gunpoint.
Police rescued and subsequently arrested a man from a mob in Soshanguve Block AA last Wednesday after he was accused of a house robbery that happened the previous Saturday.
The man and two others allegedly robbed an elderly couple of their television and its remote at gunpoint.
“The couple was not harmed as they did not try to fight back,” said Soshanguve police spokesperson Constable Nhlanhla Zondi.
Zondi said the police responded to the complaint and upon arrival at the scene, they found the community with the suspect before they could beat him.
“The suspect was linked with a house robbery that took place in the early hours of Saturday in Block AA.
“He was accompanied by two unknown men and the victims could only identify only one suspect because he is a neighbour.”
Zondi said the man was arrested and will appear before the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.
In a separate incident, Soshanguve police also arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly breaking into a house in Block L on Wednesday.
Zondi said the housebreaking happened between March 31 and April 2 as the owner went to her place of work.
He said when the owner returned home from work, a television, microwave and toaster were stolen.
“The case was reported to the police. Investigations took place and led to the suspect’s arrest. He was detained at the Soshanguve police station and is expected to appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.”
