Steve Biko Road closed for traffic after truck overturns and loses load
Steve Biko Road, in the Wonderboom area, is closed for traffic after a truck lost its load and blocked the route.
A truck that overturned blocked both directions of Steve Biko Road in the early hours of Friday, May 27.
The accident happened around 03:00 in the morning and led to a halt in operations on Steve Biko Road, according to TMPD spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
Mahamba said it was not yet known what led to the accident but investigations have begun and more details will follow.
He added that there were no injuries that were reported to the TMPD.
He said the truck, as well as its trailer, were removed a few hours later from the road.
“The load, however, has not yet been removed and the road is currently still closed for traffic.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to ensure they arrive at their destination on time,” he said.
In the images provided, it appears the truck was transporting rock and sand.
