Theft at Centurion licence test centre has not compromised personal information – RTMC

On Thursday, the centre suffered a loss when 35 computers were stolen on Wednesday night.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has assured motorists that the theft of computers at a Centurion DLTC, would not compromise personal information, held by the stolen Tshwane systems.

“All information is stored at the central point and in compliance with the legislative imperatives nothing is stored on the computers,” said RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane.

He invited the public to their Eco Park offices in Centurion, as a result of the recent disruptions of services suffered at the driving licence testing centre in Nellmapius Drive, Irene, this week.

On Thursday, the Tshwane metro DLTC suffered a loss, when 35 computers were allegedly stolen on Wednesday night.

Zwane said law enforcement agencies were hard at work to pursue the perpetrators, who undertook the criminal act of stealing infrastructure.

“Law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned.”

“Despite this unfortunate situation the neighbouring DLTCs such as Akasia, Waltloo, Rayton and Eco Park are on standby to assist motorists who need to renew driving licences including the Waterfall office premises,” he said.

Zwane said further that walk-ins would be allowed to minimise inconveniences to the public.

“The Eco-Park and Waterfall sites operate from 07:00 to 21:00 daily including Saturday and Sunday.”

The Centurion licensing centre will continue to however provide services for the application and testing of learners and driving licences.

Motorists are advised to use the following centres for the registration and licensing of motor vehicles:

– Waltloo

– Rayton

– Akasia and

– Bronkhorstspruit

Zwane said the RTMC priority was to ensure service delivery was served.

“The RTMC will work with the Centurion licensing department to ensure that services are restored as soon as possible.”
