Soccer kits and supporting equipment for local football teams

The metro will further donate soccer goalposts to associations across the seven regions of Tshwane.

Three Soshanguve football teams received soccer kits and supporting equipment after they had reached out to the Tshwane metro for donations.

Consequently, the metro’s community and social development services department donated the kits on May 21.

The teams that received the donations were KDS United Football Club, Young Spartans Football Club and Holbeach Football Club, according to the social development and community services MMC Peggy de Bruin.

De Bruin said the SAFA Tshwane and JDR Stars Football Club partnered with them in making this request a reality.

“They used their full technical team and senior players to motivate the young players on how to become professional soccer players.”

JDR Stars also provided coaching clinics to the developmental clubs and allowed them to interact with their role models from the senior team.

The soccer teams in Soshanguve received soccer kits and equipment.

The metro will further donate soccer goalposts to several associations across all seven of Tshwane’s regions, namely Cullinan (Nokeng LFA); Soshanguve (Soshanguve LFA); Bronkhorstspruit (Kungwini LFA); Hammanskraal (Hammanskraal LFA); Stinkwater/New Eersterus (Stinkwater LFA); Olievenhoutbosch (Oliven LFA); Ga-Rankuwa (Ga-Rankuwa LFA).

De Bruin said sport builds social and cultural bridges by bringing people from all walks of life together.

She encouraged the communities to protect their sporting facilities.

“It is important that we guard our infrastructure and buildings for the benefit of future generations,” she said.
