Five nabbed for possession of house breaking tools in Laudium

The suspected house burglars were arrested with equipment often used for house break-ins.

Laudium police arrested five men with equipment suspected to be used for house break-ins in their possession.

The police received information on Friday morning about a suspicious-looking Toyota Quantum that was parked near Laudium KFC and the R55 road, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe.

The suspects, believed to be aged between 27 and 42, were reported by community members.

“A vehicle matching the description provided was spotted and cornered near the KFC on 1st Avenue and the R55.

“We immediately approached the vehicle and searched it,” he said.

Chokoe said they found a black .38 Special firearm, of which the serial number was removed, a crowbar and seven cellphones.
