Hydraulic equipment free motorist after head-on collision in the East

The Jaws of Life were used to free the woman as she was trapped inside the vehicle.

Two women and a man, believed to be in their 30s, sustained serious injuries after a head-on collision at the intersection of Graham and Boschkop roads in Pretoria East on Tuesday morning.

Speaking to Rekord, spokesperson of Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit Casper Visser, said passengers from the second car only sustained minor injuries.

Visser said when his team arrived at the scene, one person was still stuck in one of the cars.

He said it was not yet clear about what caused the accident but investigations have proceeded.

“The Gauteng EMS rescue technicians had to use specialised hydraulic equipment to remove the patient from the vehicle.

“All patients were stabilised on the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment,” he said.
