Biltong and Boerewors Festival takes over the Pretoria Botanical Gardens

Pretoria East residents were treated to a festive day filled with music, food and family at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens on Saturday

Residents had fun as the Pretoria Botanical Gardens welcomed the Biltong and Boerewors Festival back on Saturday, June 4.

With more than 29 food stalls offering anything from biltong to nachos, 130 exhibitions and 12 kid stands, the festival, which had taken a break due to Covid-19 restrictions, had something for the whole family.

Residents had fun as the Pretoria Botanical Gardens welcomed the Biltong and Boerewors Festival back on Saturday, June 4.

Live music performances and three live kid shows, including the Fairies & Princess show and the very popular Superhero Show, entertained audiences and shoppers throughout the afternoon.

The outdoor, cashless event boasted an impressive beer garden with both traditional and new beers, liquors and spirits.

Guests were also spoilt with a variety of food options as the weather cooperated.

Two competitions took place, both paying tribute to the biltong and boerewors theme.

The first competition, named “Wys my jou wors”, challenged four teams of two people each to making a meal using boerewors as the main feature.

The second competition, “biltong bielie”, had the same concept but with biltong. The participants had 2 hours to prepare their dishes, after which actors Je-Ani, Germandt, Christel and David tasted and judged. The winners took home a cash prize of R10 000.
