Illegal dwellers and illegal traders warned in Sinoville

“We have discovered another area where about 18 dwellers settled overnight.”

Illegal dwellers and illegal traders in Sinoville are being watched after they have been informed that they are trespassing.

“Illegal dwellers on the corners of Mirca and Hans Coverdale avenues that residents complained about, have been cleared,” said Lenise Breytenbach, DA councillor of ward 50.

“In co-operation with Tshwane metro we went out on Thursday to investigate more complaints about illegal dwellers on the corner of Borage and Marjoram avenues.”

She said the illegal dwellers especially settle behind the walls of the security complexes in that area.

“We have discovered another area where about 18 dwellers settled overnight.

“Officials from various metro departments accompanied us and various areas were cleaned.”

She said the owner of a store containing gambling equipment received a warning for operating without the necessary licence, as well as many informal traders that set up shop on street corners without permits.

“Mirca and Marjoram avenues were cleaned and a fence was put around the relevant areas as well.”

Rekord reported earlier that the Tshwane metro started a process in 2018 in which informal traders need to apply for permits.
