Police nab 320 in Tshwane operations

Police in Tshwane and various other law enforcement agencies arrested 320 people for various crimes over the weekend.

On Friday, 11 illegal liquor outlets were shut down and eight people were arrested for drug-related crimes in Mamelodi, according to Captain Augustinah Selepe.

“Two people were detained after they were found in possession of a stolen Nissan NP300 and trailer as well as stolen bases, mattresses, mirrors, wood drawers and other items. All these were confiscated when the suspects failed to provide valid documents.”

Selepe said detective teams arrested 204 people following the tracing of wanted suspects throughout the district from Thursday night to Friday morning.

Among them, 38 were wanted for gender-based violence.

Further successes included unlicensed liquor outlets being closed down, undocumented persons, drug-related crimes, persons driving under the influence of alcohol, people consuming alcohol in public areas and more.

Selepe said other successful arrests were for possession of drugs, common robbery, malicious damage to property, illegal possession of a firearm, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, contravention of the Road Traffic Act, possession of suspected stolen goods, murder, reckless driving, attempted business robbery, contravention of a protection order, common assault, theft, shoplifting, carjacking, and attempted murder.
