A young hip-hop artist from Soshanguve wants to set the world of music on fire.

Gladwin Tshabalala also known as “System_Blaze” writes and produces his own songs.

System_Blaze said he realised that he had a talent for music in 2012 then started working on it.

“I realised that I have a talent for music in 2012 when I wrote and recorded my first song ‘A lot on my mind’,” he said.

“I was in school and since then I have been in and out of the studio trying to create more music for people to listen to.”

The 26-year-old released his first single “They Don’t Really like Me” in 2019.

“That song is on every platform for music lovers to listen to it,” he said.

System_Blaze has since released an album, For All My Excellence (F.A.M.E) and singles “Rude Boy”, “Trap King” and “Savage”.

He said “Makhelwane” is his best work yet.

“The song is about the bad neighbours that always say I am too loud when there’s a party at my house.

“I am trying to tell the listeners that sometimes you need to take a stand for what you believe will make you happy.”

System_Blaze said his family has always supported his journey.

“My family have been supportive since I started and they sing along with my songs when I play them,” he said.

The young talented man grew up listening to Lil Wayne, Tupac and Eminem.

“Lil Wayne inspired me to focus on hip-hop music, he got this thing of inspiring young artists,” he said.

System_Blaze produces his own sounds because he thinks that other people sometimes don’t put enough effort into the sound he’s looking for.

“So it’s better to just produce your own music,” he said.

He thinks that it’s easier to explain oneself through the art form of their choosing and should do whatever it takes to ensure they are well versed in the subject matter.

He advised youngsters to believe in themselves more than anyone else otherwise their passion will mean nothing.
