Three men shot and killed in Laudium

In two different incidents, the victims were killed in drive-by shootings.

Three people were shot and killed in separate incidents. Two were drive-by shootings in Laudium, hours apart between Wednesday and Thursday.

A 55-year-old man was shot and killed in Laudium by unknown suspects in Emerald street at about 16:00 on Thursday, July 21, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.

Selepe said a white Toyota Corolla with an unknown registration number stopped in front of the suspect and an occupant started firing shots.

“The victim was shot multiple times and declared dead on the scene,” she said.

No arrests have yet been made.

In a separate incident, a 33-year-old man was gunned down just as he entered his yard at Itereleng Settlement in Laudium.

Selepe said the shooting happened on Thursday, July 21 at about 10:00.

“He was shot several times,” she said.

“The deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on the scene.”

On Wednesday, July 20, a 26-year-old man suffered fatal injuries following a drive-by shooting, also at Itereleng Informal Settlement.

The 26-year-old was sitting in his car with a friend when a maroon car approached them and an accupant started shooting.

“The victim suffered fatal wounds. His friend was not injured,” she said.

Selepe said cases of murder has been opened for investigation.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects responsible for the three murders.

Selepe urged anyone who can assist with any information about these cases to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or the nearest police station.

The Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Samuel Thine, condemned these murders and urged the community to stand together to report the perpetrators,

He said the people responsible for the murders would be arrested and brought before court.
